That’s the answer for today’s category.
To own an entire collection of Stephen King and Anne Rice novels…
No. Really.
Speaking about that, I want to share something on writing. Put that at the back of your mind. Do not write based on what’s super hot in the publishing business. If you visit certain sites, there’re Space Opera, Steampunk, Alternate History. And recently ‘Noir’. It has been there long enough that no one bothers. It can be referred to as Hardboiled fiction. But it comes down to one thing, the waste of your creativity sparks. The more you force yourself to write what the market is asking, you’re losing the real you. In the end, write what you’re confortable in.
“Writer writes everyday”
I put the above in bold for a purpose. It’s a common practise. Don’t bother calling yourself a writer if you don’t pick up the pen or pencil and start scribbling on that piece of paper, or sitting down for hours in front of the PC screen killing your retinas. Even blogging will do some justice.
On the other hand, speed writing is good to let your brain comes out with a topic, for example ‘Scar’. Then you start to write with the flow, no editing…just go for it. Give yourself about 10 minutes and then stop.
Some times by accidental, you can have that ‘sparks’ while watching a movie or listening to that particular song. For me, I had this thing called – Storyline Trailer, playing in my mind when I was watching Election 2 yesterday. I’ll probably blog about this movie next week.
